On 10 April 2026, a roundtable titled “The contribution of universities to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals” was held in Astana by the Economic Research Institute JSC, with the support of the United Nations Country Team. The event served as a platform for a systematic discussion on the role of universities in achieving the SDGs and for developing coordinated approaches to integrating sustainable development principles into the higher education system.
About the Summit
The Regional Ecological Summit 2026 (RES 2026) was initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2023. Guided by the concept “One region – shared challenges – collective action”, the Summit will bring together governments, international organizations, the scientific community, the private sector, civil society, and youth to advance environmental sustainability in Central Asia and beyond.
RES 2026 aims to unite efforts across Central Asia to address climate change and environmental degradation through coordinated, regional solutions that prevent risks, strengthen resilience, and support sustainable development.
