From Dialogue to Action: UN Event with Kazakhstan's Civil Society Spotlights Six SDG Transitions

The United Nations Country Team in Kazakhstan recently held a dynamic dialogue with civil society counterparts, aiming to fortify collaboration for sustainable development through SIX SDG TRANSITIONS – the modular building-blocks of SDG achievement. Over 50 key stakeholders gathered to discuss strategies enhancing our collective impact on sustainable development.
The SDG Summit – world leaders – agreed that there six transformative entry points or - key transitions that can have catalytic and multiplier effects across the SDGs, accelerate its achievement. They include (1) food systems; (2) energy access and affordability; (3) digital connectivity; (4) education; (5) jobs and social protection; and (6) climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
"There are over 23 thousand CSOs registered in Kazakhstan. As we navigate the path towards achieving the SDGs, the active involvement of civil society is not just beneficial but essential. Together, we can turn aspirations into actions and make sustainable development a reality”, said UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Storey.
Participants passionately engaged in addressing pressing challenges and collectively formulated recommendations for the government: innovation, modernization, collaboration, investment, legislative improvement, and better coordinationemerged as pivotal strategies for progress.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development underscores the importance of inclusivity and partnership, and civil society embodies these principles in action. By amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, advocating for policy changes, and mobilizing resources, civil society contributes significantly to the realization of the SDGs. Civil society is indispensable in this transformative journey.
